Background:
 He is a Nigerian, born on November 4, 1954. He hails from Ikoro, an Ijaw (Izon) village in Edo State. His highest educational attainment is the Ph.D degree in Plant Science (with specialization in Crop Entomology) obtained in 1984 at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). His postdoctoral working career spanning over 33 years has been in the University system especially at The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Nigeria where he rose to the rank of Full Professor in 1999. His main duties have been Teaching, Research, Administration and Community Service including Consultancy. He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different aspects of Crop Entomology. The research endeavors of Prof. Ofuya have led to the publication of over 130 papers in journals of international repute. He has thus far successfully supervised over 40 Masters Degree dissertations and 18 Ph.D. theses. He has attended and presented papers in many international and local conferences. Prof. Ofuya has had postdoctoral overseas research experience in Germany, United Kingdom and India made possible by prestigious research awards that was obtained at different times. In 1998, he won the IFS/DANIDA Award for African Agricultural Researchers given for impressive publication record and international recognition and collaborations. He is one of the outstanding researchers in FUTA and indeed won The Most Outstanding Researcher in Agriculture in FUTA in the year 2000. He was listed in the Marquis Who is Who in the World 2000. Prof. Ofuya has very good experience in University Administration. In FUTA he has been Hall Warden (1987-1991), Head of an Academic Department (Crop, Soil & Pest Management) for more than six years at different times (1995-1997; 1999-2005) and Dean of School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT) for four years (2005-2009) and Chairman, Committee of Deans for one year (2008-2009). During his tenure as Dean, all the programmes in School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT), FUTA received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC). Prof. Ofuya organized the most successful School Endowment in the University as Dean and indeed won the FUTA Dean of The Year Award in 2006 in recognition of outstanding contributions to the development of FUTA. Prof. Ofuya has been member of key FUTA management committees such as Senate, Development Committee, Appointments and Promotions Committee, and Principal Officers Committee. He in addition served as member of the Governing Council of FUTA from 2005-2009. He has also served as the Director of the Centre for Research & Development of FUTA from 2012-2014. Prof. Ofuya served as the substantive Vice Chancellor of a private University, Wellspring University, Benin City, October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2016. Prof Ofuya has been serving as Director of the International Strategy Office in FUTA since June 1, 2017. Prof. Ofuya has superb interpersonal skills, and is amiable, affable and a great team player and servant leader. By the grace of the Almighty God he enjoys excellent physical and mental health and he is of unassailable integrity. His extracurricular interests include Christian fellowship, reading and travelling. He believes and very strongly too, that he enjoys the goodwill of God Almighty and humans.
