Background:
 Professor Rex D. Aladesanwa has more than twenty (20) years of working experience as a lecturer in the university after graduating from Moscow Agricultural Academy in 1990 in the defunct Soviet Union with a PhD degree in Chemical Weed Control and Plant Protection from Pests and Diseases. He has considerable research experience in the field of chemical weed control, plant protection from pests and diseases including integrated pest management. He has also taught Weed Science and Crop Protection Technology at the undergraduate level and Advanced Crop Protection as well as Integrated Pest Management at the postgraduate level for more than ten years. Professor Aladesanwa’s expertise and skills cover a very broad spectrum of weed science, plant protection, crop protection policy analysis as well as institutional capacity building. His specific areas of expertise include the following: teaching of weed science and crop protection technology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, management of pest organisms including weeds, insect pests, vertebrate pests, diseases, and nematodes. His expertise also includes the teaching of biostatistical analysis, design and analysis of experiments in weed management and plant protection, optimization of herbicidal efficacy, and environmental impact assessment of pesticides. Professor Aladesanwa is a renowned scientist in the field of weed science and plant protection, who has worked on vital subject areas not often investigated by weed scientists and plant pathologists, namely the effects of non-targeted pesticides on disease and crop development. His research on the effects of atrazine residue on the growth, development and nutritional quality of vegetables including phytosanitation has been published in foreign journals. He has presented technical papers at several local conferences and has served as moderator at some of these conferences. Professor Aladesanwa has also reviewed several scientific journal articles. He is the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of Applied Tropical Agriculture, an International Journal published by the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. Professor Aladesanwa has in-depth knowledge in the use of computers for data acquisition and analysis, graphical presentation and report preparation. He is versatile in the use of several statistical software packages, such as Excel, SPSS, Statistica, S-Plus, Genstat Discovery Edition, Instat +, etc. He has used this knowledge in teaching Biometry and Statistics and Agricultural Experimentation to postgraduate students in the department.
